Bars for Marina Coastal Expressway |
 | The use of high-strength thread bars as proposed by VSL has proved an effective solution for counteracting expected ground heave during construction of Singapore’s 5kmlong Marina Coastal Expressway. Using the Y950/1050 steel bars as tension reinforcement in the temporary tie-down piles resulted in lighter and less congested reinforcement, enabling easier and faster construction. | |

Tysan Foundations awarded VSL a contract for the supply and installation of 75 temporary ground anchors for the extension to the Singapore International School in Hong Kong. Intrafor carried out the drilling works while VSL’s teams were responsible for the installation and stressing of the anchors. |

 | VSL installed pre-grouted electrically-isolated bar anchors as part of a major project to enhance Swiss rail capacity. Due to stray currents, all permanent bar anchors had to be electrically isolated and to meet stringent code requirements. The project involved the installation of a total of 7,567 anchor heads with 72.5km of pre-grouted electrically isolated passive B500 bar anchors and 178 prestressed permanent and electrically isolated strand anchors. | |

VSL has been awarded a supply order for 242t of marine ties for a new floating, production storage and off-loading quay facility in Dubai. The 50-year design life and marine environment dictate the need for enhanced corrosion protection. Bars are supplied in lengths of 11.8m and coupled on site to a total length of 31.5m. Two diameters of grade S670 bars are used – 57.5mm and 63.5mm |

Micro-piles manufactured and supplied by VSL Systems GmbH have been used to reinforce about 5km of banks for a cycle track near Koblenz. VSL Systems supplied more than 15,000m of double corrosion-protected micropiles made from BSt 500/550 S bars of 40mm diameter. The project used a total of 155t of bars. |

The VSL Group, in collaboration with the manufacturer Stahlwerk Annahütte, has successfully introduced the VSL Threadbar. The range includes the traditional B 500 bar as well as stressbar quality Y1050. A high performance new bar permit the diameters of the standard quality bar B 500 to be reduced by one unit. |

VSL developed an alternative micropile design at La Maladiere Football Stadium in Neuchatel, Switzerland. Instead of using the B 500 with a diameter of 50mm, VSL's alternative was S 670 coarse threaded bars of 43mm diameter. A fabric sleeve prevented uncontrolled consumption of grout and any pollution of the groundwater. |
