New Polish venture with pot bearings |

VSL has won its first bearings contract in Poland. The bearings are for the E-118 bridge on the A4 Tarnów-Dębica highway and the contract follows post-tensioning work already awarded by SIAC/Hydrobudowa. CTT Stronghold (VSL in Spain) manufactures the 150 pot bearings, in sizes up to 1,483mm by 1,383mm and weighing up to 2,364kg. They are installed by Bouygues subsidiary Karmar. |

The bridge over the River Zaan near Amsterdam was replaced by a new 200m-long bridge which includes a steel bascule span for which VSL licensee Heijmans provided special VSL pot bearings. The deck had already been placed; it was necessary to lift the 400t bridge in order to install the bearings. |

Promoting services for seismic |
 | VSL participated in the Foire du Valais 2006 in Martigny, Switzerland, and the 4th International Conference of earthquake Engineering in Taipei. VSL offers "seismic retrofit" solutions by modifying existing structures to make them more resistant against seismic activity and earthquakes. |

 | For the spanish high speed rail VSL installed 30 units of heavy load pot bearings (2500t) on the Averno Viaduct (810 m-long). On the Anoia Viaduct (342 m-long), VSL installed 18 units (1800t). |
